Port Hedland

Finally back into a town with services and reception.  It is amazing how many places we have visited now that have no phone coverage.  No wonder they feel so isolated out in these places.  Anyway it  was a quick visit into Port Hedland to stock up the van and to give Kaleb a base for his birthday.

Port Hedland is an industry town and not much else to see or do.  We looked at the port,  visited the information centre and the salt stacks.  Counted the rail cars on the iron ore trains and looked at the picturesque coast line but that was about it.  It was all about Kaleb and his day.
The port - 1 boat empty the the other full.

Look at all the bilge water they are putting into the water.
Keep you dirty crap we don't want it in our country!

Jordan like this statue because she said it was her and the two boys.
How cute they put up a monument for the sake of my children.

Salt pan and stacks.

He woke all excited and his big brother and sister made him feel very special.  Leading him around showing him the sign, balloons and streamers.  They were so cute together.  It would be lovely if they were always like that together.
Birthday boys awake!

The day started with present opening, a visit to collect mail which unfortunately had not arrived but was there at the end of the day and general play with all the wonderful new toys Kaleb had received.  It was a nice day in PH so they spent the day wandering around the park, swimming in the pool and playing with the couple of the kids in the park also.  Kaleb even got presents from Julia and Duncan and Phil & Jo, Aidan & Alisha.  How nice is that.  People that we have only just gotten to know making my boy feel extremely special.

Happy Birthday.
Late arrival post.   Thank you Grandma.
'HOW COOL!!!!'

Yum Yum!
Our final part of the day was to go to tea.  We had booked to go to the Hospitality Inn at their in house restaurant.  It was a very flash setup when we arrived and we informed them that we were there only to be told that they did not have our booking.  So I got on the phone and rang the number that I had and low and behold there phone rang.  Bloody dills.  And guess what they did not have a table for us either they were completely booked out.  I think they were a bunch of snobs and did not want our kids eating at their fancy restaurant so conveniently lost our booking.  Off to the All Seasons Bistro we head then and had a lovely night.  The meal was lovely and the place was full of yellow reflector shirts but what the hey.....Kaleb still had a lovely time.   In all it was a great day.

Off to Tom Price & Karijini National Park next.  Will be very interesting.
