Coral Bay

What an outlook!
Coral Bay, what an amazing location!  No wonder it is one of the top location spots around Australia.  We arrive to settle in the most amazing spot at the camp site.  Directly opposite the beach and a 30sec walk across the road.  We ran into Sarah and Trent and there kids who are from Torquay and caught up quickly with them.  They were heading for home the next day.  Their road trip almost over.

Looking back towards caravan

Early morning still shot at Coral Bay!

It was just so still. It was amazing!

Jordan made friends with the Daylesford family while in Point Samson and Exmouth so was happy to find that they were also at Coral Bay.  I finally took myself over to meet both of the parents, Bren and Kate.  Lovely couple who own an organic farm in Daylesford.  Really clicked with them from the onset.  Kate fell in love with Jordan and the boys but particularly with Kaleb.  I think if we let her she would have pack him up in their van...lol... We caught up for drink a couple of times with them and two other couples that we had also met on the road, Trish, Chris, Grace and Ivy and John, Ellie, James, Tom and Georgie.  Really enjoyable nights.

Wow we spent most of our days relaxing in Coral Bay and just enjoying doing nothing.  It really was just the perfect location for such behaviour.  I started feeling a little guilty that we were doing nothing but sitting on the beach, snorkelling and building sand castles that I decided that we need to ride our bikes around the two streets in Coral Bay.  Yes correct.  Just two streets in total.  We did our cooks tour and took in the sites of the area as best we could.  The ride to the marine a little difficult with a head wind and an up hill climb but the ride worth it.  The marina was spectacular.  The water a most amazing blue.  We really enjoyed the ride back.  Downhill and tailwind.  What an enjoyable ride.  Kaleb even scored himself a Mater (from Cars the movie) tow truck.  Obviously another child's lost toy now a favourite of Kaleb's.  He was stoked!

Heading into the marina.  Just spectacular.

The kids had decided that to get the confidence snorkelling that a set of fins (flippers for a non diver like me prefers to use) was needed for their successful return to the water.  Okay it was a long shot so we purchased a pair each for Jordan and Austin them took them in the water.  Jordan gave it a go.  Still a little scared but oh my Austin just couldn't cope.  He threw a tizzy fit because as he place his head in the water with the mask about to begin a stingray was less than 1metre away.  My did he fly up and out of that water quickly and with flippers that's not an easy task.  By the time I calmed him down and told him I would return his new flippers he gave it one more hesitant go.  Oh well at least he tried.

Met a great couple from Perth who lent us his wave ski/ kayak.   Wow that was a lot of fun.  The kids paddled in the shallow for ages.  Austin particularly enjoyed himself and Nigel I think also did.

After four days of our beautiful view we decided that we wanted to stay on a little longer at Coral Bay so we had to relocate in the park to the Pioneer Section.  That's cool it was a 250metre walk to the beach and no view but still just as good.

Our mining boys!
Julia and Duncan had arrived at Coral Bay so the kids and us caught up with them for drinks.  We get along very well with these two so it was good being opposite.  They did get up to a little mischief though.  I had worn one of my very colourful dresses that they decided to nickname lollipop and over the next couple of days I would hear Duncan and Julia addressing me by singing 'My girl lollipop.  You make my heart go giddy up'  It was a perfect song for the outfit and I had a good laugh.  Fun-illy one night Nigel and I were tucked up in bed reading our books and I could hear Julia laughing like a school girl and getting a little closer.  Then at our heads I hear the song on her iPhone blaring out "My boy lollipop.   You make my heart go giddy up".  Nigel was wonder what the heck was going on.  I just laughed and said that this was new theme song.  It was hilarious really.  Julia one too many drinks getting up to mischief again.

We did a tour of Coral Bay on 4x4 quad bikes.  This would have to be my all time favourite experience on the trip.  We rode up and down sand dunes.  Drove along the beach and swam at two amazing locations.  It had been a beautiful day and we saw some amazing things.  It would have been better with a smaller group but unfortunately it was not to be.  Some of the other riders were a little hesitant and a couple of times I had to coach them on how to get up the hills.   I could have stayed on the quad bikes for ages.  The kids, Nigel and I had a ball.  It was truly spectacular.  Oyster Bridge was our first location where we did our snorkel and then we headed to the Lagoon where we swam out past the break and swam with the turtles.  Just a really special day.

Pro Riders!!!!

Arriving at Oyster Bridge

Turtles.  We found some!

We decided to stay one more night at Coral Bay but it was not an easy one.  They moved us again.  What a stupid management team.  They have absolutely no idea. How to run a park smoothly with no interruptions to your stay.  I was a little pissed off to say the least and gave them a mouthful regarding their procedure.  Aaaarghhh.  Once we did our move we did our last tour of Coral Bay.  We headed for the shark nursery where we saw at least 45 immature black point reef sharks.  Amazing and then we head back to the beach for a play, a ride on the boogey boards and to feed the snappers.
Walking to see the sharks!

Wow look at the pretty crabs trying to hide from us.

Luckily we loved Coral Bay too much to let their site hopping soil it for us.  We definitely want to return to this area again.  We just loved it.
