Lemon Tree Passage - Port Stephens

We arrived at the caravan park around 1.30pm.  The weather was perfect and this only made it more difficult to set up because we wanted to be out in the sun and enjoying the pool.  We finally got to get in the pool only to discover yet another cold pool.  These parks that advertise solar heating like to tell fibs I think.   Oh well a quick dip to refresh was still great.  Jordan and Nigel stayed in the pool for ages.  We were all a little flat after a very big week in Sydney so the next couple of days we intend to take easy.  We took a drive down to Nelson Bay to have a swim...we stopped at Shoal Bay which was a beautiful bay cove just before the heads open up to the Pacific Ocean.  The water is amazing in these places.  It's such an inviting aqua.  We all had a lovely swim.  Kaleb went in but way upset and angry with having to go in but finally had a quick dip.  He tells us he's going to try to go a little deeper each time.  We hope he will give it a go because he is missing out on so much fun.

The following day the kids did the kids program and then just as they were returning we heard the hornets begin to fly.  They sounded so close so we all jumped in the car and watched them as we drove down to the RAAF base at Williamtown.  They were going so low over our heads as we drove, it was a great sight and we could not believe our luck.  When we arrived at Williamtown we continued to watch the planes circle in the distance then got to see several hornets and hawks take off.  They were going out in groups of 4.  We saw one of the Roulette's land and many commercial airlines land.  Then final the first four hornets came in to land.  They flew straight over our heads.  That was amazing and extremely loud.  Shortly after that we went to the museum - Fighter World we look at and were able to sit in fighter planes.  We continued to watch as the planes came in and out.  Very cool fun.  We all loved it very much.  We had a quick bit to eat then drove to Anna Bay to visit the Stockton Sand dunes.  It is the largest sand mass in NSW and stretches for 35kms.  We took a ride in a bus and went sand boarding.  What amazing fun that was.  Kaleb rode with Nigel and I till he go the confidence but Jordan and Austin got straight into it.  The best fun!  Next time hopefully the kid are old enough and we can hire the quad bikes and get on the sand dunes in them.  We had a few close shaves on the board but unfortunately we had one final accident in where Jordan ran into the back of Austin.  Oh my it would have hurt.   Tomorrow we leave for Port Macquarie.  What can we find there to keep us interested?
