Theresa Creek Dam - Clermont

We left Charters Towers after 11am and arrived at Theresa Creek Dam just after 4pm.  We had one stop along the way and that was at the Belyando Crossing Roadhouse for fuel and lunch.  The drive took awhile but the road was in excellent condition and we made the trip easily.  Nigel and I still a little poor but better than we had been.  We were greeted by Susie who we met earlier on our trip at the coffee shop / office.  The kids were excited to see the both of them again and Mick had kept a spot for our caravan so that we could be close to their location.

It was a easy couple of days at the dam. We pretty much did nothing. The kids when out in the tinny with Mick and Nigel several times each to check the red claw pods and I also went in it once also to see the area. It was really pretty out on the day and I enjoyed being out on the water.

We sat around the campfire every  night and enjoyed some amazing meals out of the camp oven.  The roast in particular was just delicious.  But the bread and damper were pretty good also.  We met Mick and Susie’s son in law Matt.  He came a stayed overnight and slept in his swag by the fire.

The kids spent all day playing at the playground at the dam and getting to know a family travelling in a big yellow bus. They loved going to visit because they even had a chook travelling with them. The park was really good and it kept the kids so occupied it was amazing. We only saw them when they were hungry or thirsty.

Saying our goodbye to Mick and Susie was a little difficult.  We had thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them.  They had a great friendship with our children and they were just lovely people.  We hope they will get a chance to visit us in Geelong when they finally embark on the great southern trip.  Port Stephens is a long way to go to visit them...but also a very pretty places so who knows we may just have to visit them in the future.
